Muslim Women of Elefsina
600 Muslim people, with a Turkish origin, have chosen Elefsina,
an industrial area of suburb Greece which faces vast unemployment
issues- to be their home. Whence the men of the family struggle
with their fate in the local cafes, the women manage with illiteracy,
with raising many children, as well as poverty and racism in a
storm of depression and isolation.A program which utilizes art
as a means to a better life, run by the non-profit organization
Shedia,, promises elevation from misery. Can Picasso and Monet
hear these women's prayers? Not if Allah does not allow.
