Kosovo Youth
60% of the Kosovo
population is 18-35 years old. 44.072 of them were born in 1986.
Kosovo youth consists of two ethnicities, Serbian and
Albanian, with 90% of them being Albanian. What distinguishes one
from the other? What separates one from the other? They attend separate
schools, they speak different languages, they believe in different
Gods, their ancestors killed on one another. Yet they are both chaperoned
by KFOR, they are both supervised by the UNMIK. Faced with an unknown
future, the young generation carries the traditions of their fathers
determined to build a future for themselves. They have a lot in common.
Unemployment, trafficking, suicide are only the tip of the iceberg.
Will they be able to put aside the hatred feelings and live in peace?
Serbian and Albanian youth speak of the challenges and the fears
they face while awaiting for the final decision on Kosovo’s
Independence.
