al quds day
Tehran.
October 20, 2006. International Day of Quds is held each
Islamic year on the last Friday before the last day of Ramadan.
Quds Day is a day Muslims from all around the world show
their support for the oppressed Muslims of Palestine. The
parade for
liberation of Quds (Jerusalem) and Palestine originated in Iran
after the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The observance was
suggested by Ayatollah Khomeini. Annual Al-Quds Day
marches are held in every capital of the world. In one of the largest
rallies in this year's Quds Day, 3.5 million people filled the
streets of Iran's capital, to pray and demonstrate in a fanatical
and polemic rally against Israel and the US. This year's march,
focused on
the recent war against Lebanon, fueled the protest furthermore
by spurting anti-Israeli and anti-US dissents to new levels.
